Password Protected Directories
See how to create a secure and user-only area in your website with password-protected directories.
If you would like keep some content hidden from the public eye, you could activate password protection for a certain folder - either the primary Internet site folder or any other one below it. When this option is active, a pop-up shall appear anytime someone tries to open the folder in question or clicks on a direct link that goes a few levels deeper, so login details will be required for www.domain.com/folder/image.jpg when you have secured the domain.com folder. When the details aren't valid, a “403 Forbidden” message will appear and there's no way of getting around this restriction, so you can be certain that nobody will be able to access the protected content. The feature can be useful in a variety of scenarios - if only a number of people must be able to see specific files, if you work on a site and you don't want people to see it prior to it being completed, and so forth.
